In the spirit of congratulations to our own Lanka Jewels  who have now moved into their fabulous new and larger store here at The Junction Shopping Centre, let’s talk Fall trends in jewellery that not only will turn heads but may bring a tear or two if given as a gift or presented as a special surprise.

Pearls never go out of style, of course, every woman knows that and this year they are more visible than ever. This is not your grandmother’s pearl necklace but wonderful and lustrous pearl chokers, wristbands, large dangling earrings or gorgeous studs, and in colour, colour, colour.

With Billy Idol in town for the PNE, we want a little ‘Rebel Yell’ ourselves and what better way to make a statement than with big chains and loops of semi-precious stone necklaces and big ol’ rings on every finger.   Punk still reigns for Fall trends and in the case of jewels, the more heavy, the better. The ‘80s live on and after all there may be a little rebel in all of us.

Dangler drama for day and for night. Either way, make the earrings big, dangling and full of character. Think Dynasty meets Game of Thrones. The bigger the better when worn with a feminine up-do and dramatic eye makeup. Accent the look with long shoulder dusters; earrings that well, make a definite statement to dressing up or down.

Chokers are back and we love them. A narrow ribbon around the neck with a single gem dangling in the middle or a string of iridescent pearls or maybe work with a specialist to create just what you want for your style and your budget. We love the femininity of the choker, think Twiggy in the 1960s, and give a nod to the history of this very fashionable neck adornment.

Who said Matchy Matchy is outdated? Well, no longer is that true. Jewellery sets that include matching necklace, earrings and bracelet are very much back IN style this season and when worn, look super elegant. And that’s not to mention so versatile to wear the pieces either together or separate. Matching sets of brilliant cut diamonds, or earthly colours of semi-precious stones, or perhaps a matching set of gold chain or delicate silver sets. Matching sets of jewellery is very much back in vogue but matching sets really do bring years of enjoyment.
